Mesolabium Alternate Content

July 26, 2011 - Mesolabium as converted by the new "Swiffy" Flash to Html5 conversion tool from Google. NOTE: This will only work in the newer Webkit browsers such as Safari and Firefox.

swiffy_conversion_2_2.html a few corrections - text was made non-selectable for the swf, extra spaces in the text needed deletion, better results followed.

The following is missing from the page 2 text, possibly the hyperlink caused the problem.

A mean proportional is also called a geometric mean. It involves such terms as geometric sequence, common ratio, and common multiplier. Mean tone tuning is usually applied to smaller intervals in renaissance music but functions here as well. I understand it is called 1/11 comma meantone - http://www.medieval.org/emfaq/harmony/pyth5.html#6.1

swiffy_conversion_1_3.html
The earlier version.

There were and are problems but oveall it seems the best alternative for me as is, right now. Will see how it looks and functions on iOS, and for how long.

The original can be seen at: Origins_12tet_3.html , page 2.

... appMobi launched a related utility called appFlash. This new tool takes advantage of Swiffy's capabilities, allowing mobile developers to convert app assets coded in Flash into native iOS applications.

An issue with Swiffy is the Google Terms of Service:

I just don't know all the implications - will study.

July 2, 2011 - Mesolabium Animated Gif - 227 kb takes time to load - first frame repeated as a jpg below it has been pushed down the page - to see it - Refresh the page, but it is only an animated gif version of the above with less information and greater file size, Swiffy, above seems now a better option.

Animated Mesolabium - invented by Erathosnenes to double the cube, used by Zarlino for Equal Temperament and by Descartes for Analytical Geometry

Animated Mesolabium - first frame of the animated gif

For comparison, here is a screenshot of Zarlino's 1588 version directly from the website.

Zarlino's 1588 version of the mesolabium for Equal Temperament

The animated gif and jpgs illustrate the nature of the Musemath content for those who do not use the Flash Player. They are derived from an earlier QuickTime movie originally created for that purpose but now, for whatever reason, works on everything but Apple devices.

. Perhaps Hype HTML5 Animation Builder.or Adobe's "Wallaby" or a similar tool will enable me to create something more useful in the future. ...Swiffy has now come along, options are improving.
